Hi! I just read the article in the Loudoun Times Mirror...and I have been digging around your website finding all sorts of great info. My son is 5, diagnosed with HFA (initially PDDNos) this February. I am lost and don't know where to begin as far as what to do, where to go...I definitely want to get connected with other parents in Loudoun County. Congratulations on your site and a great idea!!!

Welcome Iggatha! Believe me, we have each been as lost as you feel at this moment. Please know that you aren't alone and that we are to help. Feel free to email me with specific questions or concerns at shelley@locoautismnetwork.com.

Hang in there!!

Hi,

we have been procrastinating getting my son's blood work done as well....he won't even get in the bath, try on new shoes or get on the scale at the Dr.'s office without screaming, self injury and full scale nuclear tantrums. Has anyone been through this? Did you sedate your kid? Use a straight jacket? Pin him down? How can this be done when I can't even get him to wear a short sleeved t-shirt without a tantrum these days?

Have you tried any type of interventions with him to fix the underlying sensitivity problem? It's so hard to be the investigator in these cases, but you have to find out WHY it bothers him to have on a short-sleeved shirt on etc first before tackling bloodwork! I feel for you - I've definitely been there!! By the way, what bloodwork are you having done?

Hi,
How are you all?
Recently i started GF (Not CF yet), tometo-chocolate-soy-egg free diet for Tejas (5.5 yrs). Initially few days went well, then it is been difficult. He is not eating much. Please do share any ideas for lunch box (What to pack diet food). Tejas eats chicken and turkey. He eats only if i feed him, by himself very less consumption of food.
Any word of advise would be great!

Congratulations for starting the diet and I',m wondering are you leaving out the tomato, soy, egg, etc due to a food allergy? For lunches, I pack fruit, potato or corn chips, raisins, turkey or turkey pepperoni, and a juice box. Enjoy Life cookies are also very good also. Home made french fries and Ian's chicken nuggets are gold standard also. Might have to do some oral sensory integration if he does not like different textures in his mouth. My child will even eat salad now.

Thanks for the ideas.I tried chk nuggetts by Ian and yeh Tejas liked it. I took off tometo, egg, chocolate , soy etc. Some days are exceptions of gluten. As i discover more recipes and if he likes them i will make it more strict.

Why did you take Tejas off soy, egg, tomato and chocolate which can be gluten-free by the way? This is very diet limiting if he is not allergic to these things...

Well Tejas's allergy reports say that he is level 3 alleric to tometo, chocolate, egg, so i had to take him off of that. I still am giving him milk thouh.
