Hi everyone, my son who is 4.5 yrs old is on the spectrum. He currently attends the early childhood autism preschool program. We have been reading about the HBOT treatment. We would like to hear from parents who have tried or are looking into the treatment option.

Hi! Few mothers from my support group do perform hyperbaric oxygen treatment for their children who have severe speech delays. The results have been positive for the most part. Scientifically, there are not any controlled, long-term studies for its efficacy. There has been some instances of seizure activity in a few patients of my DAN! doctor so it is not without risk. If you're child is not under the care of a DAN! Doctor, I would not pursue it. Pure oxygen can increase yeast activity in the gut as well and cause severe growth. Insurance will not cover it unless it is for wound care. A series of 40 dives must occur in a round so it is time intensive as well. You have to weigh the pros and cons IMO...

Thanks for the info. Do you know if this treatment is available locally? The closest facility that I am aware of is in Lynchburg, VA. My son is significantly delayed in speech and most of his communication is in rote form. We have had the initial appointment with our DAN doctor and are waiting for the results of the tests that were ordered. We are planning on discussing this treatment with our doctor at our next appointment.

I know there is a chamber in Richmond, VA and a mobile unit that comes to Vienna, VA but I am not sure of that schedule but I can find out.

Thanks for the feedback. If you could provide me more info about the unit that comes to Vienna, that would be great.

The hard chamber is in Vienna right now from June 17-August 11. You can double up to get your 40 dives in if you start right away. The phone number is 1-888-425-0402

Thank you once again. We did call them and requested additional information. We are planning on taking the dives later this year after we have discussed it with our doctor.

Hello everyone, I am suffering with CRSP as a result of an injury from a fall and broken wrist. I've been reading about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and that it could help me. I see that someone posted a message that there is a chamber in Richmond. VA. Do you know whom I could contact that has this chamber. Thanks, Gail
