Today I was reminded of the power and meaning behind this group. A LCPS Principal brought the following article to our attention and reminded us of the real potential that is unfolding at Loudoun County Autism Network.
We have mobilized! We are cooperating! Together we stand committed: we won't allow our children with autism to wander through a world where they never fit.
Welcome to our network and Thank You for joing us!

Here is the article from the Washington Post:

Thanks for sharing, Jodi! Question - has LoCo talked about some sort of initiative for next year to get Special Education teachers, Principals of Special Education schools, and Assistant Principals of SE schools more involved in our group and in the effort to make their schools a place where our autistic children DO belong? I ask because you said a LCPS Principal gave you the article - which is great news!! I know we focused hard on Cedar Lane Elementary last year and even gave efforts at Countryside Elementary. What can we do this year, before April and Autism Awareness Month, to make sure that the schools are doing their part? And if we can come up with an initiative, can we do it on a broader scale - middle schools, high schools, etc?

Sorry if it has been discussed - I'm so out of the loop!!
